Dr. RaySarah L. Ray earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Dr. Ray worked at the Areta Crowell Center, an outpatient community mental health clinic serving adults with severe mental health disorders. She refined her clinical skills with children by providing individual and group psychotherapy at the Springall Academy. This San Diego school serves special needs children and adolescents with mood disorders, learning disabilities, behavior problems, and autism. She also works at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare, a private psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics with a wide range of acute mental health disorders and addictions.

At the University of Michigan, Dr. Ray facilitated Alcohol Management Workshops for students recognized as problem drinkers, as well as served as a mentor for adolescent girls diagnosed with mental illness and pervasive developmental disorders. She was the program assistant for a therapeutic summer day camp for children and also worked as an activities therapist at the University of Michigan Mott's Children's Hospital. In addition, she served as an assistant head counselor at a residential summer camp, Ramapo for Children in Rhinebeck, New York. Her research interests have included the study of depression and alcohol use in pregnant women, as well as exploring the impact of violence on Head Start preschoolers. She is currently a psychological assistant with Dr. Steven Hirsch in a private practice serving children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Ray is specializing in individual, child, family and marital therapy. She also conducts psychological evaluations with particular emphasis on Worker's Compensation issues and chemical dependency evaluations in custody cases.
