Steven M. Hirsch graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was awarded a doctorate degree in psychology from Texas Tech University in 1975. He then joined the staff of the University of Texas at Austin, as Director of the Texas Institute of Alcohol Studies and a year later was appointed Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Agency of Central Arizona. There he managed a comprehensive community mental health, alcohol and drug abuse treatment center. Dr Hirsch came to San Diego in 1980 to direct Kaiser Permanente's Alcohol and Drug Dependency Program and later joined the staff of Raleigh Hills Hospital, serving as Director of Psychological Services. He is the founder and president of Advanced Health Care - a nationally recognized psychological consulting company where the needs of the client always come first. He is a consultant to the Navy's Drug and Alcohol Program at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. He is on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - San Diego Affiliate.

He is a licensed psychologist with more than thirty-five years of specialized clinical experience helping people rediscover a happy and fulfilling life. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the San Diego Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Pain Management and Who's Who in the West. He has been the Director of Psychological Services for three San Diego inpatient chemical dependency programs and a clinical consultant to a number of public and private treatment programs. He is a member of the Forensic Expert Witness Association and provides expert forensic services and case review in the area of psychological injuries at trial and "behind the scenes" litigation support to help develop persuasive legal arguments. He is a leading expert of medical-legal evaluations and treatment of chemical dependency problems. He is dedicated to providing quality substance abuse evaluations and treatment services in high conflict cases. He is a Qualified Medical Evaluator for the California Workers' Compensation system and is dedicated to equitable evaluations and treatment of injured workers.
